How do you organize your life?

I was recently described by a Director of Operations at Computer Science Corporation as one of the most wired people he knows. My Palm is synced to my Exchange Server, my conference calls have reminders and e-mails and text messages fly all day. However, I can't cut loose of the 8.5 x 11 sheet of card stock that I list my To Dos on. Are you fully wired or straddling the fence regarding your To Do lists and notes?

I remember the day, week, month I decided to move from my day planner binder to the electronic version. It was a very hard transition, I am happy to report that I now fully embrace the task list that is in Outlook. Once the fear of not having that sheet of paper is overcome the sky is the limit. But to be completely honest, I still print the task list. Let's just say it is my security blanket.

Ah, my friend the executive coach suggests it is fear. Tragically I can't argue the point. As a software peddler I have the device with me always...OK, I'll leap (this weekend). However, the I may pass along the 8.5 x 11 card stock to the ADD kids who are looking for tools that don't have a PDA.

OK - I did it. Moved "to dos" to the PDA. Just told my 17 yo ADD kid to use his too. I'll reinforce that every day for the next few weeks and see if it works!

I just called him on his cell to tell him to use less minutes. Does that sound as dumb reading it as it did to write?

Congratulations to the both of you, entering a brave new world of electronic to do's. The next trick is to learn what to actually write down. The ability to recognize truly important tasks versus just the quick fix feel good activities is a journey worth attempting. I look forward to hearing about the 2 week experiement with to do's.
